The presentation of identification is indispensable for the boarding. Such document will have to be presented in two moments: at the check-in and at the boarding gate.

Trips in the domestic territory, the Brazilian nationality passengers will have to present one of the following documents:

  • Domestic passport;
  • Identity card (RG) issued by the Secretaria de Segurança Pública of one of the States in the Federation or Federal District;
  • Identity card issued by ministries or agency subordinated to the Presidency of the Republic, including the Ministry of Defense and the Commands of Aeronautics, Navy and Army;
  • Identity card issued by the Judiciary or Legislative Power, in Federal or State level;
  • Domestic Driving License (with photo);
  • Work Portfolio;
  • Identity card issued by the Council or Federation of professional category, with photo and authority attest valid in all the domestic territory;
  • Pilot license, steward, flight mechanic and operational flight dispatcher issued by the National Agency of Civil Aviation (ANAC);
  • Another identification document with photo and authority to attest documents in all the domestic territory.

In domestic trips, the documents can be accepted independently of the expiration date, being able to be original or certified copies. The documents must allow the passenger identification.

In case of theft, robbery or loss of document of Brazilian nationality passengers, in the domestic territory, the Police Report (BO), could be accepted only if it has been issued in less than 60 days.

Comment: The student ID is not an identification document foreseen for boarding and cannot be used for this purpose.

The Brazilian regulation applies to the flights leaving from Brazil. For other flights, the norms of the place of origin are applied to the trip and can be different from Brazilian legislation.

In international trips, the Brazilian nationality passengers will have to submit one of the following documents:

  • Valid Passport;
  • Laissez-passer;
  • Authorization to return to Brazil;
  • Passaport;
  • ID card or equivalent foreign document, in the cases foreseen in treats, agreements and other international acts;
  • Certification of member of air transport crew and marine ID;
  • Consular school registration ID..

More information of valid identification document for international trips – including for countries of the South Common Market (MERCOSUR) –, resulting of agreements or other international acts, can be obtained in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Police Department.

Passengers of other nationalities must submit one of the following documents, considering each expiration date:

  • Foreign Passport.
  • Foreigner ID - CIE (RNE), respected the international agreements firmed by Brazil.
  • Diplomatic or consular Identity.
  • Another legal traveling document, result of international agreements firmed by Brazil

In the case of trips in domestic territory, protocol or request of CIE issued by the Federal Police Department can be accepted in replacement to the original document, for the maximum period of 180 days, counted from the date of its issuing.
